Best Time to Visit Istanbul
Istanbul straddles two continents and experiences a climate that reflects this unique position — hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters, with spring and autumn offering the most comfortable conditions for exploring the city's extraordinary historic sites and vibrant neighbourhoods.
April and May bring mild temperatures (15–20°C), spring wildflowers, and the famous tulip festival that fills the city's parks with colour. September and October are equally popular — the summer heat has faded, cruise ships have thinned, and the golden light makes the Bosphorus views particularly spectacular. Summer (June–August) is hot and very crowded at the major sites, but the city's rooftop bars and Bosphorus boat culture compensate. Winter is cool and sometimes rainy but offers the most authentic experience of everyday Istanbul.
